Between February 05 and February 09, 2024, nine academics and industry professionals from Jordan and Palestine gathered at the Creative Design & Clothing Department (CDC) of the International Hellenic University (IHU) to embark on an immersive journey into the realm of 3D technologies in fashion education. Through a series of workshops, presentations, and hands-on experiences, attendees gained invaluable insights and practical skills that promise to reshape the future of the fashion industry in their countries.
From mastering the fundamentals of 3D garment construction to exploring the intricacies of parametric 3D avatars, participants delved deep into the cutting-edge tools and techniques driving innovation in fashion design. Led by experts from IHU, attendees gained a comprehensive understanding of how 3D technologies are revolutionizing every aspect of the fashion lifecycle, from concept development to final production.
One of the highlights of the training program was the opportunity to explore the intersection of technology and sustainability in fashion. Through interactive workshops in IHU's state-of-the-art labs, participants gained hands-on experience with sustainable materials, rapid fabrication techniques, and innovative dyeing processes. By understanding the role of 3D technologies in advancing sustainability goals, trainees emerged with a newfound appreciation for the potential of technology to drive positive change in the industry.
The training sessions also provided a platform for attendees to showcase their creativity and innovation. From virtually sewing digital patterns to dressing digital avatars, participants had the opportunity to apply their newfound skills to real-world projects, culminating in a series of impressive trainee projects that showcased the transformative power of 3D technologies in fashion education.
Beyond the technical skills gained, the training program fostered a vibrant community of fashion professionals united by a shared passion for innovation and creativity. Through networking opportunities and collaborative exercises, participants forged meaningful connections and gained valuable insights from their peers, laying the foundation for future collaborations and partnerships.
Before the training program drew to a close, the trainees also had the opportunity to visit the Cave of Agios Georgios, the most significant tourist attraction in the city of Kilkis, ranking among the most remarkable caves in Greece. Offering visitors a unique experience, the age of the fossils found in the cave has been determined to be 15,000 years.
The trainees left IHU inspired and empowered, armed with the knowledge, skills, and connections needed to harness the full potential of 3D technologies in fashion education.
